This was hands down one of the best books I have read on leadership. The material is simplistically put and easy to connect with and put into action. I highly recommend this for anyone at any level of leadership. Even the young firefighter with aspirations of being an officer one day. I cannot recommend this book enough, you will not be disappointed. I will most certainly be reading this again. Excellent work Chief! Thank you for your dedication to making our profession better.

Shoutout to Corley Moore this book was phenomenal! It was an easy read with some great insight on leadership! We need to support our brothers and sisters and shine light on them when we can. Corley deserves a lot of light after this book!

Corley Moore did an excellent job at writing this book. It can relate to any rank in the fire service to any profession outside of the fire service. As you read, you can hear him narrate it in your head as if y’all are sitting at the picnic table in the bay. All of the points that he hit on couldn’t have been more spot on. The only thing you don’t get, is the incidental music you receive when you take this class in person. Corley, I’m proud of you man. Thanks for the read.

Next on my list of fantastic books that I've recently read is "The 9 L's" by @firehousevigilance 's Chief Moore. This isn't the usual dry, spelled out leadership book. Chief Moore is able to seamlessly weave each of the 9 tenants into real-life examples from firehouse life to personal life. I listened to Chief Moore's episode of @national_fire_radio where he was discussing this book, and by the end of the hour, it was already on order from his website. I know that a book is good if when I finish, it is all marked up and annotated for future reference. I highly recommend this book to anybody looking to optimize their mindset, be it at home or on the job.

Corley nailed it in this book. A guide, a blue print to leadership. Corley takes the subject of leadership and packages it into a book that reads as if you’re sitting at the kitchen table, listening to a trusted friend or mentor talk. All too often leadership books can be predictable. The 9L’s is far from it. I’ve never had the class that goes with the book. I would sit at the beginning of each chapter, read the “L” and think I knew where it was going. I was usually wrong. Corley’s book is informative, well written, thought provoking, and applicable for the Chief, company officer, and aspiring company officer.

Although I'm a tad biased based off my addiction to the Weekly Scrap Podcast that Chief Moore puts on (10/10 stuff right there), I think this book should be in the hands of every firefighter in the nation. It's leadership philosophy and ideals can be implemented both the Fire Department, as well as personal life in general. As I currently go through my first year in a formal leadership position within my own Fire Department, I found this book insanely invaluable and will be reading it again for years to come to keep me on the path. I also appreciated him giving ampule amounts of credit where it was due, to me that speaks volumes. It's very well put together, easy to read, and well organized. Unfortunately, I felt the need to rip out page 239 and post it on the door of my locker so I see it every day on shift. Goin' find out for yourself! TYFYS

This book is a collaboration of concepts everyone (not only directed to those in the fire service) should read, learn, and be able to apply. It is easily relatable for almost any age group, experience level, or situation. Fantastic book that I wish I had when I was in RN training. If you read this book and it doesn’t change your perspective on relationships, career, and self then you didn’t truly read the book. IMPACTFUL!!!

This was one of the easiest books to read. It flows very nice and you can tell it was written for firefighters. There are many topics discussed in the book that are on the minds of firefighters across the U.S. I’m already looking forward to reading it again! Great job Chief Moore.

I was part of Chiefs preorder, but had several books ahead to read. When I finally got to reading I couldn’t put it down. It’s very well written and highlighted things we can all work on in the fire service to become better leaders. There are too many points to highlight but I really loved his bit on esprit de corps.

This book is easy to read, well written, and gets down in the weeds. I bought this for my shift LT's. We went through it chapter by chapter. It opened up our relationships. It assisted us in reviewing one another. Do yourself a favor and buy a copy. The best part about this book is it applies outside the fireservice as well.

I am normally not much of a reader. Corley has his own Podcast "The Weekly Scrap" that I listen to each week and it is amazing! When I heard that Corley was writing this book I was excited to purchase it. This book is written like Corley is sitting there having a conversation with me! I would highly recommend this book to everyone! There's a lot of concepts that I had never thought of before which is great!

After hearing Chief Moore at a conference I knew I wanted this book. Shortly after ordering a copy I became the Training Chief at my fire department. We were in the midst of a significant decay in a once great culture. I was able to get 15 more copies of the book and distribute them to all officers at my department. We formed a leadership class based around the concepts of The 9L's & I was overwhelmed with the response from our department Chief Moore's bits of wisdom combined with courage and humility of command staff willing to take responsibility have begin to transfer the attitudes and mindset of our command staff. When I purchased this book, I intended it to help in my progression through the fire service. To my surprise, every principal is applicable to all aspects of life. I use the lessons addressed to lead my family, communicating and laying out expectations better with friends and relatives, and instilling the ideologies with my teenaged and first grade sons. I reel my wife in with in-depth discussions about the book and she has gained quite a bit of understanding as a new leader in her career. Chief Moore didn't rewrite how leadership should be viewed and addressed with the 9L's.... He made it extremely easy to understand and apply to do many different areas of day to day life.
